Johannes Langkamp
Johannes Langkamp observes as if he is looking through the lens of a camera. What he sees is determined by a framework with which he plays by taking unexpected positions. For the upcoming work tank production, the artist wants to develop devices with which he can deepen the scope of the framework. Movement is essential for him. For example, the input that a moving camera can have on the perception of space. Here the simple can go away with the scope of the perspective, which Langkamp draws into space in "Quadrangular vision". As well as the work "Stillstand" in which the sun is portrayed as a still celestial body and against which the horizon walks through the image. Langkamp's work is the constant search for ways to interrupt our viewing habits, and thereby broaden our view of reality itself. By working on a series of prototypes, Langkamp wants to create new devices that interrupt our viewing habits and broaden our view of reality on new. The result is determined by chance developments that he always gains during his development phase.

La perspective curieuse
"La Perspective Curieuse" fits seamlessly with Langkamp's research in which his camera plays the leading role. The artist is interested in the possibilities and limitations of the camera in relation to the space. How does the camera register the room? What is the scope of the medium's framework? How does the camera distort our perspective on reality? Langkamp performs playful experiments that result in short video sketches. These sketches form the basis of installations with which he literally pulls his video work into space. The surprising result makes us look at our surroundings again with a fresh look. In this kinetic video sculpture, he literally draws the field of vision of the camera into space. Two fabric corners represent the charted field of view of the camera. The camera is constantly moving, driven by mechanical means, which constantly changes its field of vision towards the wall. This walk of perception becomes visible because the surface grows (or reduces) with the field of vision. The corners of the fabric frame, stretched on roller blinds, are pulled outwards via threads. The movements are paired with each other, so that "the area" remains optically as large as the field of vision of the camera. The result is two-fold; on the one hand, the built mechanism is shown in which clearly all movements take place; camera, wires and plane. On the other hand, the generated image that can be seen live, on an external monitor, shows the filmed "plane" as unchanged in size. Langkamp makes the invisible visible in this wonderful spectacle; the two-dimensional interface of the three-dimensional perspective.

De Beweging Van De Ruimte
"The Movement Of Space" is a kinetic installation that responds to the medium of film and thus the framed field of vision. The two by three meter large structure serves as a framework for a mechanical spectacle. Similar to a photographic aperture mechanism, a light surface opens and closes. In Langkamp's installation, the cross-section (light surface) is a tilted and quadrangular surface that opens and closes repetitively. The fabric surfaces create a quadrilateral field of vision that constantly changes scale. Due to the size of this work, the viewer's vision is continuously influenced; limited or expanded. Depending on the placement of the work, the viewer's point of view and the scale of the cut, a different approach to the space always arises.
